GENERATOR CONTROLS

Bespoke Generator Controls (GC) to replace existing or for new generators.

This package was supplied to an offshore oil rig to replace their ageing controls for a more modern supportable type.

The GC consists off;

PLC: To carry out all logic functions such as start / stop, breaker control, alarms, shutdowns

HMI: To display graphically all measure parameters such as volts, kW, amps, Hz, oil press, rpm etc.  The HMI shows all alarms, historical events and trends the analogue measured points.

Overspeed SIL2 Shutdown Loop:  The engine speed is measured by a speed pickup which is then checked for a certain frequency.  Should the frequency exceed, then a shutdown is initiated.  Testing of the overspeed shutdown is carried out by our BA108 ''Overspeed Simulator'' device.

Speed Switch: Our BA102 unit measures the frequency of the engine speed and converts this to a mA output for using as PLC input, or to drive a local meter.  4 x relay outputs are set to come on at cranking, underspeed, overspeed and running.

SPEED SWITCH (BA102)

Our speed switch measures the speed of rotating machinery and converts the rpm into either a mA or VDC output which can be used as a PLC input or to drive a meter.

The speed switch also has 4 x programmable relay outputs so the user can set relays to activate at certain rpm levels which could be used for cranking speed, underspeed, overspeed and running.

The speed switch is PLC based allows the system to be expanded to have additional I/O, Modbus communications to be added or even a HMI.

OVERSPEED SIMULATOR (BA108)

PCB - BESPOKE APPLICATIONS

Should you have a requirement for a speciic type of electrical signal, conversion or a non-standard signal, and you that you cannot find anything suitable off the shelf, then we can help.

Over the years we have developed our own in house PCB's for this very reason, to mention a few include;

LED dimmers, two way tacho test jigs, +/-30VDC to 0-10VDC, +/-20mA to +/-30VDC and Function generators

EMERGENCY GENERATOR CONTROLS

Our bespoke Emergency Generator Controls (EGS) allows the generator to be started automatically on confirmation of a dead bus.  The EGS will start the generator, run it up to speed, confirm correct voltages and running parameters and then initiate a close breaker command.

The EGS can either operate in automatic or manual (hand) control.

This system has been designed approved and witnessed tested in-house and during commissioning by DNV-GL.

OVERSPEED SIMULATOR (BA108)

The overspeed simulator allows operators to periodically check the overspeed shutdown signal whilst carrying out maintenance activities or checking safety functions of the engine easily.

The overspeed simulator is preset at the corresponding engine shutdown frequency, when the switch is switched from ''normal'' to ''test'' the engine speed pickup will be removed from the speed switch or PLC input and the overspeed simulators frequency applied.  The shutdown hardware will then react to this and shutdown the engine accordingly.  This devices removes the need to connect function generators and remove wiring etc which can be problematic and time consuming.

VALVE CONTROLS

Our Valve Control system allows for remote control and monitoring of the valves which are controlled by a SCADA PC.

The valve control system consists of;

SCADA: a marine approved monitor and industrial PC which is used to fully monitor and control the valves from a control room.  Alarms, events and mimic diagrams allow for easy use of the system.

PLC: carries out all logic and valve control functions.

Valve Boxes: Convert the electrical signal from the PLC to pneumatic to operate the valves.

MODBUS - PORTABLE SIMULATOR

To allow for easy testing between 3rd party equipment, our Portable Modbus simulator allows for a Modbus program to be simulated via touch screen buttons.

Any interface issues, register addressing, scaling etc can be found and fixed before site work begins to allow for quicker commissioning time.

it also allows to fully test a Modbus setup for fault finding and maintenance periodically.

The photo shows a Mitsubishi Q series PLC, however, we can also offer other PLC vendors.

The simulator comes equipped in a carry case for easy transportation.

DEPOT PROTECTION SYSTEMS

Our Depot Protection System (DPS) can be scaled to any depot size or budget.

From a 'Basic' system comprising of a switch / padlock arrangement with minimal beacons to interface to, to a fully integrated system with;

Train wheel detection sensors (treadle switches)

Derailers

Aspects (signals)

Movement beacons and sounders

Trapped keys

Points control

SCADA

RFID
